Hello. I enjoyed looking at your site and would like to visit the museum in the future. My father grew up in Cyclone and we would visit the area every Memorial Day when I was a child. John Cooke is my 6th or 7th great grandfather. I am from the John Jr. branch of the family.

In general with the US, a thesis is a final venture for that masters diploma along with a dissertation qualified prospects into a doctoral diploma. All those following a masters degree will have to accomplish homework with a targeted topic through which is distinct practical knowledge obtained through her method. Searching for a PhD is different on the inside that your dissertation needs to add some thing wholly great new and then unseen for your field. To paraphrase, you are required to lead first data towards the subject. A masters degree thesis is more closely correlated to some basic research paper that you'd have completed through faculty. This can demonstrates your volume of vital also analysis thinking but also determines the topic that you're the majority of interested in choosing inside of the subject. Accompanied by a dissertation, you might be envisioned to utilize the investigate of some people only to tutorial you on your personal investigation to come up by having a 100 % new speculation. Yet another way during which the thesis and dissertation vary are in length. A masters degree thesis is often through one hundred pages. Yet, the dissertation is often no less than double and often times triple a size of a thesis.

North Spring, WV cemeteries is incomplete. Several cemeteries were missed and the data recorded in several is incorrect. (It shows my mother married to my grandfather)
I have contacted you several times regarding this and have not received a reply. Is there another contact person I can speak with?
There is lots of misinformation for those that might be collecting genealogy research.
Please let me know if I can help to fix these problems.

I must commend you and your associates on a job well done. My maternal bloodlines (Davis) come from Wyoming County and it has been nice to read a bit more about them. This project has obviously been a labor of love. I hope to make the trip to visit the county and stop in to visit the museum.

My maternal grandfather, H. H. Hornsby, was the general store manager for a coal company in Oceana in 1917 (WWI draft card). He served in the Navy during the war. He was the general store manager for Elkhorn Coal Company in Garrett, Ky. from about 1919 until sometime after WWII. I would like to find any information of his time there in Oceana that may still exist. Are any of the records and photographs in your collection online?
Thank you,

I am a direct decendant of William McDonald. Could anyone please tell me how I may reach the artist of "The Burning" of the McDonald plantation home circa 1862. I am aware that her name is Geraldine Walters or Billy Hinkle who was the lithographer of the portrait by Ms. Walters. I have googled the name Geraldine Walters and people searched her name but I get numerous names but do not know enough about her to choose one, i.e., her age, state, relatives names, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have not been in town since the flood in 200, and then it was as a squad leader with my National Guard unit, I had no idea that Oceana even had a museum. I am a graduate of OHS class of 88, and JD Toler was one of my favorite teachers and it is because of him that 20 yrs late I am studying at Concord University to become a History teacher. Thanks Mr. Toler.

Hi, yes my George W. Morgan is the same one that shoot and killed Captain Newman. I'm sorry I do not know the spot that he shot Newman. I wish I knew more about the shooting. I visited the grave of George W. Morgan last year at the Camp Chase Cemetery. A very nice cemetery. My grandmother told me of her grandfather being in prison and she said they didn't know what happened to him but my cousin found out that he actually died of Smallpox about six weeks after he was sent to Champ Chase. My grandmother had already passed away by the time I learned of his fate.

My grandparents were from Wyoming County. They came to Mingo County in 1906. I am related to the Lusk, Morgans(my grandmother was a Morgan), Cooks, Blankenships and Baileys. I actually have my Lusk line for 12 generations, including my children and grandchildren. I visited the grave of George W. Morgan in Columbus, OH. He was my great great grandfather. I actually have my genealogy for the Morgans, Cooks and Blankenships. Lots of history in Wyoming County. Hope I can come to visit the museum. I have visited all the links here and this total effort is a GREAT accomplishment for Wyoming County! The Board members and all those involved in getting OUR Museum established should be congratulated - you have done a superb job! Of course, being from Oceana, I'm very pleased that it has been located in Oceana - will add considerably to our little City which we all are proud of. I have a lot of Oceana High School graduates and family that are from Wyoming County on my email list and this is being forwarded to all of them so they can visit online and in person when they are in town. JOB WELL DONE!!!

Something happened to what I was posting. I'll continue..

I've done extensive genealogy research and I've got my Gores back to the early 1600's in Tidewater Virginia, coming from England. The ended up in West Virginia in the early 1800's. My next visit "home", I hope to make it down to Oceana to see all the hard work of everybody. I was so glad to see Reece Neely and Bugs Stover on your "boards". They are long-time friends!
